IFM combines the best of modern technology with traditional methods to help deliver prosperous farming that enriches the environment and engages local communities.
LEAF develops and promotes IFM and offers a range of services to help support farmers in delivering more resilient and sustainable farm practices.
This guide is designed to give you an overview of the principles involved in IFM and introduce some of the tools available to LEAF members.
Findings & recommendations
- LEAF’s IFM is made up of nine sections, which together address your entire farm business at a site specific level. An understanding of the importance of each section and the integration between them is essential for effective implementation of IFM.
- LEAF’s IFM is composed of: Organisation and Planning, Soil Management and Fertility, Crop Health and Protection, Pollution Control and By-Product Management, Animal Husbandry, Energy Efficiency, water Management, Landscape and Nature Conservation and Community Engagement.
- LEAF’s IFM Guide takes you through the key practices and principles within each of these areas as well as highlighting the synergies between them.
- You usually have to be a LEAF member to access the guide, however it is currently available for all to access for a limited time period.
