A Whole Farm Approach to Natural Capital Webinar

Date : 23rd April 2025 | 10:15 am - 12:15 pm
Venue : Online

The Soil Association, in partnership with Woodland Trust, Finance Earth and Soil Association Certification, invites you to join us for an insightful webinar to explore the findings of our FIRNS project on natural capital development for small and medium farms in Scotland.

Funded by the Facility for Investment Ready Nature in Scotland (FIRNS), this project seeks to make natural capital opportunities more accessible to farmers managing Scotland’s farmed landscapes.

What We’ll Cover:

🔎 The Challenge:
Why the current mechanisms for natural capital projects often exclude small and medium-sized farms and how this leads to missed opportunities for biodiversity, carbon storage, water improvements, and more.

🌾 Our Approach:
The steps we’re taking to develop a ‘whole farm approach’ to natural capital development, including working closely with five farms to plan regenerative farming transitions and exploring the aggregation and clustering of smaller farms/projects for funding.

📊 Project Outcomes:
What we’ve learned so far and our vision for how small and medium-sized farms can maintain food production while delivering better outcomes for nature, the climate, and their businesses.

If you want to find out more, here is a short blog post we wrote at the beginning of this year-long project, setting out our aims: FIRNS funding for whole farm approach to natural capital development
