Date : 10th July 2025 - 11th July 2025
Venue : Ty Mawr, Dingestow, Monmouthshire, NP25 4DZ

A Next Generation Case Study Event

A 2-day Emergent Generation gathering for young people at Ty Mawr Farm exploring access to land, being a new entrant, farm tenancies, vision, business planning, sustainable farming and regenerative thinking.

At this unique on-farm knowledge sharing and networking opportunity, we will:

● Outline how farm tenancies work and how to apply and plan.

● Hear from experts and role models from within the industry.

● Explore and help shape the future plans at Ty Mawr.

● Provide a challenging case study environment to explore how you would approach a farming tenancy.

● Share knowledge and barriers on entry to the industry.

● Discuss how an estate and its tenant farmers are planning to be productive and have a significant environmental impact.

● Consider the concepts of sustainability, regenerative farming and agroecology.

Context

Dan and Ellie Smith established Roots In in 2024 and moved to Ty Mawr with the view to develop a farm that is welcoming to all, and acts as a learning hub. Ellie is a horticultural therapist for a national charity, an equine grazing consultant and a skilled creative. Dan is a farmer, regenerative consultant and is completing a Nuffield Scholarship titled Generation Regeneration.

Ty Mawr is an 200-acre ex dairy farm and part of the wider Old Land’s Regenerative Cluster. As part of this, the cluster offers consultancy to estates wishing to transition into a regenerative system. This often presents an opening for those with the correct mindset.

At the start of a tenancy Ty Mawr still presents as a blank canvas and therefore there is huge opportunity for exploring novel ideas, and still room for those with great ideas, to be part of it.

Who’s The Event For?

This event is for all young farmers, growers and advisors (18 –35) looking to take their first and second steps in the industry.
