Speaker

Rob Havard is a cattle farmer and professionally qualified ecologist. He runs Phepson Angus – a regenerative farming based pedigree Aberdeen Angus herd, selling bulls and females to other grass based farmers and breeders. Rob was an early adopter of holistic management and regenerative grazing techniques and has offered training and consultancy in this field since 2014. Rob is also a 2022 Nuffield Scholar who produced his report on,  ‘Evaluation of beef cattle selection methods for profitability in grass-fed production systems’.

Rob’s main focus is on the marriage of productivity and ecological gain. As a hands-on farmer he speaks from experience, as he integrates planned grazing on the 1000+ acres of diverse pasture he grazes with his herds. Using grazing techniques that are based on recreating natural processes allows Rob to grow fitter cattle for less money while leaving the land in a better state than when he found it.
