Upscaling Agroecology: Seaweed as a Biostimulant

Date : 19th March 2026 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Venue : Online
Seaweed has been used as a soil amendment for generations by coastal farmers, and extracts made from it are today used as a Biostimulant to improve growth and nutrient uptake, reduce crop stresses and enhance soil health. But how does it work and how can you implement it on your farm or garden? This Scottish Agroecology Partnership webinar will cover the basics of Seaweed Biostimulants – what they are, how to use them and what benefits they can deliver,  including results from recent trials showing how they can support up to 40% in fertiliser reductions.

Hear from two speakers based in Wales – Alma Joensen, an organic grower who has developed and trialled Seaweed Biostimulants for the regenerative ocean farm, Câr-y-Môr, and Sam Grinsted, a sheep farmer who has been conducting his own innovative trials on his hill farm with promising results.
