Upper Ballaird Farm is a workers cooperative and not for profit farm growing and selling veg and cut flowers. Their business is centered around supporting and enhancing our community, workers and the environment. It is their goal to support the health and well-being of their community and environment through food, flowers, and outdoor services, produced and sold by empowered workers with regenerative livelihoods.
They set up the business in December 2022 and converted the veg production to a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model in winter 2023. A CSA is a partnership between the farm and its members, where members sign up for a whole season and receive a share of the harvest.
During the tour you will learn about their journey of setting up the market garden. They will show you their infrastructure and irrigation set up, alongside the bed set up and alley cropping design.
