Strategies to improve soil health in grazing systems
Pasture for Life & Regenerate Outcomes event – part of Countryside COP, bringing together the rural community and businesses to showcase and inspire activity ahead of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 – 22 November 2024.
Summary: Regenerate Outcomes & Pasture for Life are hosting a series of farm walks this year with a focus on growing farm resilience and profits through improved soil health in grazing systems. Join us at Lower Hurst Farm where Nicky will be joined by 2023 Soil Farmer of the Year Stuart Johnson who will lead the farm walk.
The farm walk will cover:
- The six Principles of Soil Health and the three Rules of Adaptive Stewardship that drive the four Ecosystem Processes to build more resilient and profitable farms
- How to improve field observational skills to improve soil health
- How to integrate regenerative practices in the ever-changing world of government programmes and subsidies
- In-field demonstrations including shovel tests, soil interpretation and water infiltration tests
- The regenerative practices that Nicky is implementing on farm
The event will also be a chance to learn how Regenerate Outcomes is working with farmers across the UK to improve soil health.
The day will start from 10:00, and the farm walk will be concluded by 14:00. Lunch will be provided at 13:00.

Now in its fourth year, Countryside COP provides a platform for anyone interested in the countryside to hear how the UK’s rural economy and agriculture can help tackle climate change and improve sustainability.
The Countryside COP allows the rural community and UK agriculture to set the agenda and will serve to amplify policy asks and other messaging through many voices.
