On-farm water management: Risks and opportunities
From too much water to long dry spells, water management has never been more important for land managers. This AHDB meeting in Kent will guide you through assessing and applying an integrated water management strategy for your farm.
This meeting will cover
- Water movement across the farm
- Current wet and dry points
- The use of keyline and sustainable drainage principles
- Threats caused by water management (soil erosion, yield and waterlogging)
- Water demand and how to calculate
- Opportunity to integrate into mapping ecological enhancements
- Bringing all this information together into an integrated mapped water management strategy for the whole farm
Registration and refreshments will be available from 10:00am with presentations commencing at 10:30am and lunch will be provided.
The event is free to attend, but please book a place to allow us to cater accordingly.
Please bring suitable footwear and clothing for a field walk (weather permitting).
