National ATF Field Trip Meeting
You are warmly invited to join Ancient Tree Forum‘s national field meeting at Sherwood Forest.
The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, managed by the RSPB and their partners, is nestled in the heart of Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve. Surrounded by 420 hectares of unique ancient woodland, it is the ideal base to explore the forest’s wonderful ancient oaks, including the famous Major Oak.
This will be the fourth ATF National Field Meeting of 2025. The event is being hosted by the RSPB and the walk will be led by the Sherwood Forest management team.
You will discover some of the forest’s most remarkable trees (including the Major Oak), explore their cultural and historical significance, and discuss some of the complex management challenges. The Sherwood Forest team will explain the research and monitoring work being undertaken and their approach to halo clearance, AVT management and veteranisation projects.
