North East Cotswold Farmer Cluster: Farm Walk & BBQ

Date : 16th September 2025 | 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Venue : Ditchley Estate, Oxfordshire

The North East Cotswold Farmer Cluster (NECFC) and the Ditchley Estate are holding a social event to convene members of farmer groups in the wider region (e.g. Thames Valley). The purpose of the event is for attendees to exchange ideas and share experiences of working as a group.

Peter Thompson, who has been advising on Ditchley’s conservation measures, set up the very first farmer clusters with the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Peter will give a presentation about the benefits of being in a cluster and important factors for success, for both facilitators and farmer members. The NECFC will also share their experiences. Robert Hobill and David Hathaway from Ditchley will give perspectives on the agriculture and wildlife management on the Estate, and lead a farm walk to look at some of the farming and conservation activities including:

  • The 10 year conservation plan
  • Ponds
  • Hedgerow Management
  • SFI AHL1 Pollen and Nectar Mixes
  • Woodland Management Plan
  • Grey partridge breeding program
  • Deer management and butchery
  • Grassland management
  • Community Engagement

The even will finish with a BBQ and a suitably social finale. Numbers are limited so please book ASAP to avoid disappointment!
