Silvopasture Codesign at Pendle Pastures

Date : 18th March 2026 | 10:30 am - 3:30 pm
Venue : The Wellbeing Farm, Plantation Road, Edgworth BL7 0BY

Join the ReForest Living Lab on farm to explore silvopasture opportunities at Pendle Pastures.

This event will bring participants together in the field with Tom Collinge at Pendle Pastures near Edgeworth, for the final in a series of codesign workshops exploring opportunities for integrating trees with sheep and poultry to provide shade, shelter and browse.

This will provide the opportunity for members of the Living Lab to learn from each other about the practicalities integrating trees and livestock. Together attendees will explore potential configurations and species selections that will provide shade, shelter and browse for chickens and sheep, working with the local landscape and climatic conditions.

Pendle Pastures is a multi generational small family farm, within the rolling hills of the Ribble Valley, producing the finest tasting nutrient dense food from well nurtured and cared for animals, using regenerative, environmentally beneficial, holistic farm management practices. Tom and Amina are integrating the principle of Islam in the farming landscape to create a system that respects livestock and nature.

The team from ReForest and the Organic Research Centre will be joined by Dr Lindsay Whistance, who has a wealth of experience supporting farmers to implement silvopasture systems for healthy animals and landscapes. This will provide the chance to get into more detail on the specifics of integrating trees for thermal comfort (shade and shelter), nutrition and medicine (browse and tree fodder) and body care based on the specifics of the site.

As the ReForest Project is drawing to a close at the end of June this will be one of the last few meet ups.

This event is free, but please reserve a place via the link below.
