Sustainable Farming in LFAs

Date : 27th February 2025 | 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Venue : Online

How ‘sustainable and regenerative’ practices and can be supported in Less Favoured Areas (LFAs): changes to agricultural support in Scotland

Are you farming or crofting on LFA land? We want to hear from you!

Agricultural support is changing in Scotland. The Scottish Government is looking at ways to support ‘sustainable and regenerative’ farming practices in LFAs.

Researchers at the James Hutton Institute are consulting farmers and crofters to identify which practices might be considered ‘sustainable and regenerative’ on LFA land, and understand the barriers to their use.

Join us online on Thursday 27 February to explore the feasibility of implementing these practices on your land and what types of support are needed.

This interactive workshop with JHI will explore what opportunities and incentives would favour sustainable and regenerative practices in LFAs, and inform the development of incentives for outcomes to support:

  • Carbon emissions reductions
  • Peatland restoration
  • Tree planting and woodland natural regeneration
  • Biodiversity.

FREE and open to farmers, crofters, growers and land managers. Booking is required

This event is being delivered by Soil Association Scotland in partnership with the James Hutton Institute
