Agrogroestry Open Weekend
In 2021 Wakelyns initiated Agroforestry Open Weekend with 6 participating farms, mostly near Wakelyns in East Anglia. For 2026 there are now over 40 participants across the UK and beyond (including Finland, Costa Rica and – new for 2026 – Holland). So everyone should have an opportunity to visit an agroforestry site near home!
It’s a bit like Open Gardens or Open Studios – each farm opens for visitors for some of the weekend 15-18 May 2026 – see www.agroforestryopenweekend.org to find your closest farm.
Agroforestry Open Weekend at Wakelyns
For Agroforestry Open Weekend 2026, Wakelyns will be open on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May.
Activities
- Learn about WakelynsVeg with the horticulture team and Adam & Emma from Willow Phoenix.
- Delicious food from the Nicola and Lindsay – Silva Kitchen and Bakery at Wakelyns.
- Paul Jackson, Wakelyn’s long term expert arborist, will be leading ‘taster’ tree walks during each day introducing you to everything arboricultural at Wakelyns.
- Paul W will be around to talk about the practical side of farming with agroforestry.
- Harry Read, from Wakelyns Nature, will be doing nature walks
- Claire O’Sullivan and Kitty Wilson-Brown will enthuse you about their Contemporary Hempery project.
- Gill Horrock will demonstrate how she looks after the wild bees at Wakelyns.
- The team from the Organic Research Centre will be explaining their work at Wakelyns
There is no admission charge but booking with time slots is essential please. Don’t just turn up! If you are booking for a bird or tree walk please also remember to book your general admission.
