Centre for Forest Protection launches new e-learning module

Students from around the world now have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about non-native pests and diseases, transmission pathways, biosecurity measures, and more in the Centre for Forest Protection‘s (CFP) second e-learning module.

Following on from the first module ‘Meet the threats‘, which gave an overview of the risks and challenges that non-native pests and pathogens present to trees, this new module, ‘Reducing risks for resilient trees‘, looks at how those risks can be minimised to enhance resilience in trees.

This module is aimed particularly at professionals and technical staff across the forestry and tree health sectors who are committed to safeguarding the UK’s trees and woodlands. It is especially valuable for those working in forest management, tree health, biosecurity, and land-based operations, however it will also be of use to anyone with an interest in these areas.

Whether you are working on the ground or shaping policy, this course will equip you with the latest knowledge and practical tools to identify emerging threats, understand transmission pathways, and implement effective biosecurity measures.

A third module, ‘The role of genetics in tree health and forest resilience‘ is also in development. All of these modules form part of the CFP’s wider training on the theme of resilience fundamentals, tree health, and non-native pests and pathogens.

You can complete all of the training modules free of charge via the Institute of Chartered Foresters e-learning platform ‘Silvestor’.
