The organic agroforestry at Wakelyns was set up by my parents from 1994. Following their deaths in 2016/2019, my brother and I have taken over, with Amanda and I overseeing operations on site. All of that fits nicely with my ‘day job’ as an environmental lawyer working on issues around climate change and biodiversity which often overlap with what is happening for farming, and agroecology in particular. For me it’s about how we make best use of land to meet our food, climate, biodiversity and wider well-being needs and promote recovery – not just about farming less badly.
