Farming at the Sweet Spot

Date : 26th November 2024 | 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Venue : Trethorne Leisure Park Kennards House PL15 8QE

How nature-friendly farming can increase commercial return by 45%, improve farm resilience and contribute to nature recovery.

The Farm Advice team at Cornwall Wildlife Trust are coming to the end of a project funded by the Cornwall National Landscape’s Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme where we have outlined nature-focussed farm change options for 20 farmers around Cornwall and the funding opportunities to do so. As a wrap up to this project, we would like to invite you to this workshop.

This workshop will breakdown how nature-friendly farming can increase commercial return as demonstrated in a recent report by the Nature Friendly Farming Network and The Wildlife Trusts: Farming at the Sweet Spot.

Martin Davies, farmer and manager of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Farm Advice Team, will outline key takeaways from this report including:

– How to strengthen farm business resilience and improve food security

– How to shift to more sustainable food production

– How to contribute to achieving net zero emissions, nature recovery and improving water quality

– And how to take advantage of farm support which is increasingly focussed on the provision of public goods

Jessica French, a land agent at Carter Jonas, will provide property advice during the workshop and outline the business implications of making nature-focussed changes on farm.

A member of the FiPL team will be present at the workshop too to discuss any FiPL agreements or applications. Please note, the deadline for any new expressions of interest (EOI) is 7th November. A link to the EOI form can be found here.

Refreshments and a carvery bap is included free of charge.
