Sheep Farmers Gathering: Exploring Approaches to Grazing
Join Pasture for Life and farmers Gala and Lynnie to explore a range of approaches to managing and grazing sheep and holistic approaches to flock welfare.
This event is part of the South East Pasture & Profit Programme. PfL members and project farmers from the South East are welcome to attend.
Join Gala Bailey Barker and Lynnie Hutchison at Plaw Hatch Farm for a morning of all things sheep.
Gala has been using electric fencing with the Plaw Hatch flock for 7 years, and she will share the challenges and benefits of adopting adaptive multi paddock grazing , using rappa fencing with a quad and by hand, and how she approached implementing a new system.
Lynnie has 170 breeding ewes on her organic farm and is an advocate for holistic sheep management using a range of homeopathic and herbal medicines to treat common ailments and support pregnancy and lambing. She has past experience of setting up and managing conservation grazing on a wide variety of sites using a range of fencing systems and continues to use electric fence as well as permanent fencing to graze in a variety of ways.
