The IPMWORKS Resource Toolbox: A free knowledge base for IPM

In recent years, an abundance of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) digital tools and resources have been produced to assist in the evolution of our agricultural practices to build more resilient, eco-friendly, and pest-resistant systems. But, it can be hard to keep on top of all these resources and to sift through to find what is actually useful to you.

What is the IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox?

Imagine having an interactive toolbox that’s filled with solutions to your crop management problems, available at the click of a button. That’s the IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox in a nutshell. And the best part – it’s completely free!

This digital treasure chest houses a plethora of IPM resources. It includes everything from alternative farming techniques to decision support systems, real-world case studies, economic analyses, training guides, and even links to past and ongoing IPM initiatives. It’s like having a one-stop-shop for everything you need to protect your crops.

How does it work?

The Toolbox works like a search engine, helping you uncover IPM resources from all across Europe. It connects you to platforms like the IPM Decisions Platform, the SmartProtect Platform, and Organic Eprints. So, whenever new resources pop up in other databases, they automatically become accessible through the Toolbox. And, its available in multiple languages so you won’t be limited by a language barrier when searching through resources from across Europe.

You may have seen other resource toolboxes available but the best thing about the IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox is its ability to link with other databases. Whilst you search on the website, it draws resources from other linked databases and toolboxes, making sure that you have access to as much as possible, and always crediting the source of information. It will feature Agricology content too so watch this space…

Behind the scenes

The IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox was built thanks to the EU project IPM WORKS, funded under Horizon 2020 (project grant no. 101000339). We built this toolbox on an open-source content management system, making it not just a toolbox but a dynamic platform that can easily grow and adapt to include resources from various IPM initiatives. The IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox content and functionality was tested and assessed by a survey carried out with farmers, agronomists, researchers, developers, policy makers/advisors, retail organisations and others to understand their requirements and make sure that it ticked all the boxes for user needs and expectations.

Now, I bet you’re itching to get your hands on this toolbox, right? Well, you’re in luck. Just head over to https://www.ipmworks.net/toolbox/ and start exploring.

What’s more, the IPM WORKS Resource toolbox is a BASIS approved training resource. BASIS registered users of the IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox in the UK can receive 2 CPD points by sending a code found in the Toolbox to BASIS. Search BASIS in the IPM Toolbox and follow the instructions to get your points! Resources are constantly being added to the IPM WORKS Resource Toolbox – but if you notice something missing, let us know! We are always looking to add more resources to the Toolbox
