Tim Field
Environmental Surveyor, Agricology Advisory Group Member
A farming family and a rural upbringing encouraged my interest in land management, but my passion for nature and country sports led me to study environmental and behavioural biology. This interest was nurtured through practical experience working as an environmental consultant for Royal Haskoning before joining Daylesford in 2007. My work at Daylesford enabled me to pursue my interest in farming and sustainable food production. Amongst other things I am currently the co-chair of the North East Cotswold Farmer Cluster and Founder of Carbon Quester.
Maintaining biodiversity has been the primary motivation for my involvement with agriculture. With 70% of the British landscape producing food, and with millennia of farming practices shaping our rich biodiversity, sustainable farming is very important to me.
I am happiest when walking through the UKs rich habitats whilst stalking, trout fishing, working my pointer or simply spotting wildlife. One of the most satisfying moments of my career was observing 50 snipe rising out of a purpose-built flood meadow at Daylesford, within six weeks of completing the habitat creation works.
